Four
Levels of Focusing
Focusing
is a body-centered process that brings clarity and insight into all
aspects of your life. Based on extensive research into
successful personal change, Focusing gives you access to a deep level
of knowing,
leading to inner transformation you can feel immediately. The essence
of Focusing is a compassionate relationship with our inner self.
We become aware of something inside us that is wanting to give its
message, yearning to be known. We begin to build trust with this
inner relationship, and to receive gifts that come from listening
within without a personal agenda or judgement. As we discover the
spaciousness of a loving inner Presence, we notice that our lives
reflect this state of awareness. Our world becomes more loving, present,
and
alive as Divine Presence remains even when we feel stuck in our
fears, doubts, and limiting beliefs.
The Four Focusing Levels are described as follows:
Level
One: The Inner Relationship:
The
essence of Focusing is a compassionate relationship with
our inner self. We become
aware of something inside us that is wanting to give
its message, yearning to be known. We begin to build trust
in this inner relationship,
and to receive the first that come form listening within.
This rewarding
relationship continues to deepen throughout the four workshops.
Skills: Basic Focusing, basic listening.
Level
Two: The Path of the Companion:
The
quality of presence that we can give another
is also the quality of presence that we can
give to our own self. The companion is the listener
who allows the Focusing process to unfold through being. We release
the need to
be the expert who makes the process go well; instead,
we become the loving witness whose
presence allows the process to deepen. Skills:
Intermediate Focusing, advanced listening, basic
guiding.
Level
Three: The Guide‚s
Journey:
Guiding
is holding the session for the Focuser in a gentle
and empowering way. As we become able
to guide another,
we are
also becoming able to guide our self. We
can offer suggestions which support without intruding.
We become aware of the pattern of an unfolding Focusing
session from a larger perspecitve. Skills:
Advanced Focusing, intermediate guiding.
Level
Four: The Center of the Maze:
As we return
to the Focusing process from a new level of awareness,
we are able to include
and give acceptance to even the most difficult
areas of our lives. We discover that blocks can become
friends, and distractions can
be signposts to the right road. We experience
the expansions and forward movement that come when
we honor and listen to our desires.
Focusing,
listening,
and guiding become more fully integrated. Skills:
Advanced Focusing, advanced guiding.
